COVID-19 wreaked havoc on both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.  This impacted not only K-12 schools, but teacher preparation as well.  The result of this is that many schools and school districts have new teachers with limited experience in classrooms with children.  While these teachers likely have significant content knowledge and understanding of online teaching methods, they are still developing their understanding of how to translate what they learned in their teacher education program into classroom practices.  We are offering both small group and individual support for teachers in this predicament.

Small Group Support

In our small group support, teachers will have the opportunity to process their instructional decisions, brainstorm ideas with others, and develop plans for their classrooms.  In addition, the facilitator will help participants connect their experiences to research, theory, and best practices.  This primarily discussion based support will offer both validation and concrete next steps for teachers.

Individual Support

In our individual support, teachers will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a teacher educator to discuss problems of practice, plan upcoming lessons, and analyze student work.  This coaching cycle will include classroom visits, debriefs, and planning sessions.  The goal of this work is to provide whatever support is needed to ensure success of both the teacher and their students!
