
The M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) requires a minimum of 45 credits:
- 6 credits in Educational Foundations
- 21 credits in relevant ECSE
- 9 credits in Assessment & Research Methodolgy
- 12 credits in assignments in Special Education (e.g. practicum, internship)
All course choices are to be appropriate for your career goals and negotiated with your adviser, who has the discretion to recommend or require certain courses depending on your background. You should carefully review the Program Requirements for details about all components of the M.Ed. course of study. You must also follow the Degree Requirements of the Graduate School; among these are that a course of study should include at least 18 credits at the 500 level or above as well as 18 graded credits.
Fieldwork is a large component of the ECSE program. Gradute students complete fieldwork in local birth to three programs, preschools, kindergartens under the mentorship of cooperating teachers and practicum coaches.
