Community Partner Fellows Program

At the UW College of Education, our graduate students work closely with nationally-recognized faculty to address the most pressing challenges facing schools, communities and students. Our Community Partner Fellows program fosters and grows research+practice+community partnerships while scaffolding the growth of a new generation of educational leaders.

Fellows may bring skills such as:

  • Perform landscape analyses: what type of academic or other literature exists that might guide a newly devised initiative?
  • Conduct statistical analyses: how can we make sense of the data we’ve gathered on our various programs?
  • Conduct oral interviews and observations: how are the constituents we serve experiencing our services?
  • Environmental scans: what are other programs like ours doing currently? How do we compare?
  • Engage in the co-design and study of educational initiatives and programs.

Facts to know

  • Fellows can work up to 20 hours per week
  • Fellows will be mentored throughout their two-year experience by faculty advisers and other appropriate faculty
  • Community partners will interview and select from a pool of potential fellows
  • Students will develop a variety of methodological skills during their first two years of study to support various community partner needs
  • The College will facilitate ongoing evaluation of the health of the partnership
