The Education, Learning, & Society (ELS) minor includes the following requirements:

  • Schooling & Society (5 credits)
  • Field Experience (5 credits)
  • Colloquium on Education, Learning, & Society (1 credit)
  • Electives (15 credits)

ELS Minor Requirements (31 credits). See the UW General Catalog or myPlan for course descriptions:

  • Learning & Development (5 credits): PSYCH 206 (prereq. PSYCH 101), PSYCH 306 (psych majors only), NURS 201, EDPSY 302, EDPSY 380, EDPSY 404, or EDPSY 406
  • Schooling & Society (5 credits): CHID 210, EDUC 305, EDUC 310, SOC 292, or AES 340
  • Field Experience (5 credits): EDUC 401, EDUC 260/360/361/369, GEN ST 346, (Other courses that may fulfill this requirement, with approval, include: SOC 402, GEN ST 350, EDC&I 499, EDPSY 499, EDSPE 499, CHID 497, and C ENV 420/425, among others.)
  • Colloquium (1 credit): EDUC 299 (Meet with an ELS Adviser to discuss placement of this course in your plan of study)
  • Electives (15 credits): Selected from the approved list. Up to fifteen credits may overlap with a student's major(s) and up to five credits may overlap with another minor.
