The Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership (IAL) degree program prepares students to become administrative and coaching leaders within collegiate athletic departments. By focusing on college athletics rather than the entire spectrum of sports, the IAL program advances your knowledge of how athletics are uniquely situated within intercollegiate settings as well as the significant impact they have on student athletes.
IAL programs address the challenges common to athletic administration and coaching at all levels, while providing a better understanding of the role of athletics within the educational setting. The IAL curriculum bridges theory with practice, drawing on the expertise of UW faculty in the College of Education, Information School, Evans School of Public Affairs, Foster School of Business as well as practicing professionals from various athletic departments and across the sports industry. Depending on your career aspirations, two unique degree options are available: IAL-Coaching & IAL-Administration.
