EDPSY 575 Structural Equation Modeling

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This upper-level course focuses on data analysis methods for research involving a variety of simple and complex latent factor structures, including confirmatory factor analysis, path models, growth models, and latent class and trait models. A variety of software is presented, including Amos, EQS, and Mplus. Pre-requisites: EDPSY 594 or equivalent. Recommended for graduate students who will be actively consuming or conducting quantitative research involving causal theoretical models.

EDPSY 594 Advanced Correlational Techniques/Regression

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This intensive course focuses on analyzing data collected from surveys, quasi-experiments, or experiments with a major emphasis on multiple linear and logistic regression (and introduction to exploratory factor analysis). SPSS software used. Pre-requisites: EDPSY 490 or equivalent. EDPSY 593 helpful but not necessary. Recommended for graduate students who will be actively consuming or conducting quantitative research with secondary data or survey data, as well as those who will be taking advanced coursework in multilevel or structural equation modeling.

EDPSY 593 Experimental Design/Analysis of Variance

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This intensive course focuses on design and analysis of quantitative experiments, including fixed, random, and mixed analyses of variance as well as multiple comparison procedures. SPSS software used. Pre-requisites: EDPSY 490 or equivalent. Recommended for graduate students who will be actively consuming or conducting experimental or quasi-experimental research in their program, as well as those who will be taking more advanced coursework in multilevel or structural equation modeling.

EDPSY 592 Advanced Educational Measurement

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This course focuses on classic test theory, including methods of evaluating reliability and validity of items contained in assessments and surveys. SPSS software used. Pre-requisites: EDPSY 490 or equivalent. Recommended for graduate students who will be working with or developing educational assessments as part of their research.

EDPSY 591 Educational Research Methods

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This course focuses on experimental and quasi-experimental research design methods, as well as APA writing standards. Discussions include applied readings in social science research. Pre-requisites: EDPSY 490 or equivalent. Recommended for beginning graduate students who need a broad overview of quantitative research methods, context for consuming research, and APA writing standards.

EDPSY 588 Survey Research Methods

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This course focuses on all aspects of survey research design, including sampling strategies and the science of instrument development. Pre-requisites: EDPSY 490 or equivalent. Recommended for graduate students who will be working with or developing surveys as part of their research.

EDSPE 511 Methods of Applied Behavior Analysis Research

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Characteristics of applied behavior analysis research are presented: direct, daily measurement, and the systematic investigation of important variables. The primary logic of single subject design and the establishment of experimental control are reviewed. Representative studies from various applied situations are discussed in terms of dependent and independent variables, research design, reliability, validity, and data analysis. Pre-requisites: graduate standing in Education or permission of instructor.

From February 12-15, 2024 (Monday-Thursday), there will be 31 Yetis waiting to be found throughout Miller building. Scan the QR code for each Yeti and answer the questions correctly to gain points. The top 5 winners with the most points accumulated from all the Yetis will win an *exclusive* prize.

Each Yeti represents an office, program, or resource offered by the College of Education. We hope that whether you're a current undergraduate student looking into our graduate programs or a current graduate student seeking for more resources, this scavenger hunt will not only be fun but useful for your time in the College (and beyond!)

Some quick rules:
  • Please do not remove nor move the Yetis from their locations.
  • Each participant can only answer each Yeti form once. Entries before the start of the event (Feb 12, 2024 at 9:00 AM) and after the event (Feb 15, 2024 at 4:00 PM) will not be counted.
  • To earn points, answer questions correctly. Each question is worth one point. There is no penalty for getting a question wrong. ☺️
  • There are 31 Yetis scattered throughout the CoE building, and each Yeti correlates with a unique QR code. Scan the QR code to access the checkpoint form to answer the questions. Not all forms have the same amount of questions and points available though!
  • Anyone is welcome to participate in the event to learn about our college but to qualify for winning a prize, you must be a current UW College of Education (CoE) student by the start of the Winter Wonderland event on February 12, 2024.
We hope you have a wonderful time with this scavenger hunt! (Don't forget to swing by our office on February 14, Wednesday for some hot coffee, cupcakes, and card-making too!)
