Position Description
We are a Mt. Baker neighborhood-family looking for a responsible, engaging, and dependable homework buddy for our third grader who attends Thurgood Marshall Elementary School.
About the Role: We are seeking someone who can provide after-school academic support and help our third grader build strong learning habits, confidence, and organizational skills. This is not simply about ensuring he is completing homework, but about helping him develop independence, persistence, and strong executive functioning skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily homework assignments – 5th grade math and 4th grade ELA
- Help reinforce reading, writing, and math skills
- Support organization, planning, and study habits
- Encourage focus, persistence, and problem-solving
- Communicate with parents regarding progress, challenges, and successes
Schedule
- M, T, Th, F – 3:30pm – 5pm
- W – 2:15 – 5pm
Compensation: $30/hr – open to negotiation.
Notes
- Days or weeks could be divided across two people who are interested in creating a workshare.
- One or both parents work from home. Your only responsibility will be as a homework buddy – we will pick him up from the bus stop and ensure he has snack.
- We have a 55 lb. hypo-allergenic dog in the home – again your only responsibility will be as a homework buddy. We’ve got her.
Next Steps: If you are interested, please send a brief introduction describing your experience working with children and any relevant qualifications to rawmorris@gmail.com with the subject Homework Buddy.
Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
