Greenwood Social Emotional Childcare Cooperative, or GSECC, is hiring an experienced Infant Teacher for our Greenwood/North Seattle childcare center. This role is a good fit for someone who sees infant care as relationship-based work and wants to be part of a supportive, social-emotional learning focused program.

Our infant classroom serves a small group of up to six infants with two teachers. Children are currently 12 - 14m old and will transition to their new classroom in September. You will have the option of moving up with them or staying in the infant classroom. Children in our infant class typically begin the school year and are between 3 and 6 months old. They remain in the room for about one year, allowing teachers to build meaningful, consistent relationships with children and families.

About GSECC

GSECC is a social-emotional childcare center and employee-owned cooperative. Employees have the opportunity to become cooperative members and help shape the organization through shared decision-making around policies, workplace culture, pay structures, and more.

Our work is grounded in Rooted in Growth: a relationship-centered approach that supports children’s emotional development, regulation, belonging, and confidence. We believe infants deserve calm, responsive, respectful care, and teachers deserve support, training, and dignity in their work.

About the Role

As an Infant Teacher, you will help create a safe, warm, and steady classroom environment. Daily responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • supporting feeding
  • diapering
  • sleep routines
  • floor play
  • sensory exploration
  • early communication
  • family transitions
  • documentation
  • classroom care.

You will work closely with a co-teacher to respond to children’s individual needs while maintaining the rhythm of the group.

This role requires:

  • patience
  • strong communication
  • reliability
  • the ability to stay calm and connected during busy or emotional moments.

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Applicants must be available for the full shift.

What We Offer

We offer a pay range of $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We have a set pay scale that determines all staff pay. We are not able to negotiate pay. Benefits include health insurance reimbursement, paid time off, paid training, professional development support, employee childcare discount, and meals available daily.

Full-time staff work an 8-hour shift with a paid half-hour lunch. We value work-life balance and are building a workplace where teachers are supported as whole people, not just classroom coverage.

Staff receive training and support in social-emotional learning, Conscious Discipline, and trauma-informed care. We are looking for teachers who are open to reflection, feedback, and continued growth.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

  • experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting
  • be comfortable caring for multiple infants at one time
  • Minimum three years of infant/baby/waddler classroom experience.

Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain:

  • Washington State background check (we highly encourage you start this process NOW! It is Free! You must have this in place PRIOR to starting employment.
