Position Description

Tutors Impacting Public Schools (TIPS) is hiring classroom tutors to improve student success, support teacher and school needs, and enrich public school classrooms for the 2025-2026 school year! More details about our work and impact can be found on our website here. 

We are looking for tutors who:

• Want to foster equitable and inclusive classrooms
• Are passionate about helping youth succeed and grow
• Will be culturally responsive people who can support students from all backgrounds
• Build relationships across lines of differences, acting with empathy and compassion
• Are committed to serving their community
• Can be flexible and problem-solve in the dynamic school environment
• Will communicate and collaborate effectively with educators

In this position you will:  

• Support grades 6-8 in Math via whole-class support, small group tutoring, and one-on-one tutoring at Washington Middle School (2101 S Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98144)
• One 6th grade room, one 7th/8th grade room, one Math Empowerment room
• Work with students on foundational math skills like decimals, fractions, ratios and proportions, and early algebra
• Assist teachers and other school staff with group instruction, classroom activities, and special projects
• Build valuable leadership, collaboration, and communication skills 
• Develop professional relationships with faculty, staff, and TIPS administration
• Receive paid training on Race & Equity in Education, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Student Engagement & Management, creating Inclusive & Welcoming School Environments, Social Emotional Learning strategies, and more!
• Get paid $24/hour
• Accrue paid sick leave

Schedule:

• Start Date: March 16th, 2026
• End Date: June 16th, 2026
• Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays
• 8:35 am to 4:05 pm
• 30 hours per week
• Schedule is fixed to meet school's needs
• Follows Seattle Public Schools' schedule for breaks and holidays
