(2 year position with the possibility for a permanent role) 
Non-Exempt– Full Time, 10A-6:30P daily
$26.00 to 28.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications

About Bertschi School
Bertschi School, founded in 1975, is a Washington State approved elementary school serving students in grades pre-kindergarten to fifth. We are an accredited member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). 

Position Description
This is a multi-faceted role that includes facilities and operations responsibilities as the school embarks on a major construction effort on campus from June 2026 to August 2027.  Each aspect of the role is summarized below:

November - August 2026

Assist in carrying out repairs and maintenance of all school buildings on campus, including the general care and maintenance of school grounds. Position duties include:

  • Performing preventative maintenance duties as assigned
  • Assisting in keeping the buildings and grounds well maintained and in good repair
  • Assisting in project work on campus such as minor repairs and painting
  • Performing periodic indoor and outdoor cleaning duties around campus
  • Assisting periodically with school landscaping
  • Helping the school prepare for major construction on campus
  • Assisting with set up for school events
  • Assisting with school safety and security
  • Assisting in keeping all school equipment in good working order
  • Other duties as assigned

September 2026 - October 2027

In addition to the facilities responsibilities above, support the ongoing operations of the school during the construction effort and the transition to the new building post-construction.  These other duties will include:

  • Assisting in student movement across campus, including crossing guard duty
  • Student lunch and recess supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Aptitude and interest in facilities maintenance
    • Prior school experience a bonus
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion for prolonged periods of time
  • Enjoy being around children and part of a school community
  • Experience collaborating with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds
  • Flexible and collaborative team player
