The ECE degree is offered online through Canvas Online Learning Management System (LMS). The degree is a group start, instructor-facilitated, cohort-based program in which you will follow a weekly schedule of course activities. Although you need to complete course assignments and activities on schedule to keep pace with the class, you can choose when you access and conduct your course work. Instructors will communicate with students as a group through the LMS and provide feedback to reach individual students. Once registered, you will be able to access the LMS a few days prior to the course start by logging in with your UW Net ID. We recommend that you check out these resources to get familiar with Canvas before the start of Fall Quarter:

Technology & Textbooks

Some of your courses will require you to purchase textbooks. We also require that you purchase a technology bundle that you will need to complete your assignments throughout the program (video camera, tripod, and SD card and reader). In addition, you will need to make sure your computer meets minimum internet browser and operating system requirements. You can find more details on these requirements and get recommendations on where to purchase the bundle on the program website. One of the Autumn courses, ECFS 201: Introduction to Online Learning, will ease you into the use of technology for this program.

Technology support is available by phone and email for issues related to course access, recommended video technology, and other technologies that are integral to the course learning environment.
