What I Do: I am one of the Academic Advisers in the Early Childhood and Family Studies major, working with both current and prospective students. I am happy to assist students with academic planning in the ECFS major and answer questions they might have about ECFS and how to navigate the University of Washington in general.
About me: I have had a wide variety of experiences prior to UW, both in and out of higher education, all involving working with people in and around education and career exploration. I have held positions in Career Services, Academic Advising and Admissions at The Ohio State University and at Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio, and I also served as a coordinator of ESL Supported Career Programs at the College of Lake County north of Chicago. I was a Job Developer and Coach for people with severe mental health issues, a human resources generalist and recruiter at a bank headquarters in Columbus, and also served Dislocated Workers preparing for the job search by assisting with resume, cover letter, and job search strategy workshops. My common thread throughout my experiences has been finding roles where I am helping people, through problem solving, accessing information, and helping them find successes. Hearing their stories, and learning from them helps my advising with students at all levels.
