What I Do: As the Academic Adviser for the Early Childhood and Family Studies major, I work with both current and prospective students at the University of Washington who are interested in early child development, working with families, and education. My goal is to help with academic planning, help to clarify academic and career goals, and provide guidance to accessing resources in the College of Education and at the University of Washington. If you have questions about another program in the College of Education, please visit our advising page to find the appropriate contact person.
About me: I have enjoyed a wide variety of experiences prior to arriving at UW in 2008, in and out of higher education, all involving education and career exploration. I have held positions in Career Services, Academic Advising, and Admissions at The Ohio State University and at Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio. I also served as a coordinator of ESL Supported Career Programs at the College of Lake County north of Chicago. I have been a Job Developer and Coach in the mental health field, and an HR generalist and recruiter for a bank. The common thread throughout my experiences has been helping people - through problem solving, open communication, and sharing ideas. Hearing students' stories and learning from them helps my advising at all levels.
