Academic Background & Research Interests

Program Evaluation, Social & Emotional Needs, Ed Policy, Community-Engagement

Personal Background (any information you would like to share)

I grew up in a military family (mother and father served). I graduated high school in Germany, which is where my passion for students’ social and emotional needs was birthed. I have two sisters and I am married.

What led you to pursue a Degree in Education?

I think education is the catch all. If you can make a meaningful impact in education, then you can potentially impact generations and millions of people.

Why did you choose the UW and College of Education?

The University of Washington was first brought to my attention three years before I applied by some of my mentors and meeting a few of the faculty members at The American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference. When I began perusing UW's website, I was intrigued by their holistic admission process. I was also impressed by the faculty member's research interests and commitment to equity.

What will you do to transform the world upon graduation?

Continue to give back to underrepresented communities. Invest my time and energy into young people. Give the kids hope through reinforcing the truth that they are valued, loved, and worthy.
