The College of Education celebrated its newest cohort of teachers and educational leaders during graduation ceremonies held June 16 outside of Miller Hall. More than 300 members of the Class of 2014 participated in ceremonies and heard from student speaker Maurice Dolberry, an Ed.D student specializing in multicultural education, and alumnus speaker Dr. Ed Taylor, vice provost and dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs.  Watch their remarks below.

The recipient of the University of Washington College of Education's 2014 Distinguished Service Award is the Boeing Company. The award honors an individual or organization whose extraordinary contributions have advanced the College of Education’s central mission: To make equitable and excellent education a daily reality for every child in every community. Boeing was presented with the award at the College's commencement ceremony on June 16.

James Banks to Receive Fielding Social Justice Award

The Social Justice Award was established at Fielding Graduate University in 1987 to recognize demonstrated concern for and commitment to the furtherance of social justice. UW College of Education alum and South Shore PK-8 School Principal Keisha Scarlett was named this year’s Washington State Middle Level Principal of the Year by a panel of principals representing the Association of Washington Middle Level Principals, a component of the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP). She was one of nine nominees from across the state.
