Central Kitsap educator receives UW mentoring award

Respected Central Kitsap School District administrator Chris Wyatt has been honored for her work helping develop fellow administrators and teacher leaders with this year's John W. Morefield Mentoring Award, presented by the University of Washington's Danforth Education Leadership Program.
Dr. Larry Nyland, a distinguished local educator who earned his Ph.D. in educational leadership from University of Washington's College of Education, has been selected to lead Seattle Public Schools on a permanent basis after serving as interim superintendent since August. The Seattle School Board approved the move during its Dec. 10 meeting.
Three College of Education faculty members are co-authors of a new book exploring how education leaders can improve the quality of learning opportunities and student performance, even in the midst of challenging circumstances.
Keisha Scarlett Named Washington State 2014 Middle Level Principal of the Year

UW College of Education alum and South Shore PK-8 School Principal Keisha Scarlett was named this year’s Washington State Middle Level Principal of the Year by a panel of principals representing the Association of Washington Middle Level Principals, a component of the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP). She was one of nine nominees from across the state.
Coach Across America, an innovative capacity-building program from the Up2Us organization that trains and places coaches in sports-based youth development organizations around the country, is set to grow its numbers in Seattle in the coming year. The Center for Leadership in Athletics has been an important part of the growth of this effort in Seattle through its community partnership and outreach efforts with local sports organizations.
