For more than one decade, CIRGE has advocated the study and improvement of doctoral education worldwide. Why? Well-prepared doctoral recipients possess research and leadership competencies which are critical to solving global problems and meeting human needs, specially in emerging economies.
Based on a collaborative networking with more than 30 experts from the five continents, CIRGE has cultivated a unique expertise about doctoral education: Its experts have undertaken three US large scale PhD career tracking studies; they have set international research agendas of doctoral education, compiled books on doctoral education worldwide, and were one of the first team to evaluate interdisciplinary doctoral programs in the US and currently in Germany and Europe-wide.
Today, when a PhD career has becomes a critical factor in national development and innovation strategies, CIRGE is preparing a multinational project examining the many aspects of international students who study abroad.
