The Assistant Director of Advancement, as a key member of the College of Education’s advancement team, will help plan, manage and direct the College’s community engagement, annual fundraising and alumni activities. Activities in the position involve extensive direct contact with the College’s diverse internal and external audiences (including alumni, friends, donors, faculty, staff, volunteers, and community members) in addition to planning engagement events and executing stakeholder communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising and Donor Stewardship
• Primary responsibility for developing, soliciting, and stewarding the College’s donors below $25,000; developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate, visit, solicit and steward individuals capable of making annual gifts to the College as it fits in various priority areas.
• Oversee and coordinate annual giving efforts with Central Advancement and advancement program coordinator, including the Student Calling Programs, Husky Giving Day and direct mail activities.
• Work to build a strong prospect discovery pipeline through managing a portfolio of annual fund prospects.
• Develop written materials for solicitation and stewardship of annual giving level prospects, including annual solicitation, renewal and thank you letters.
• Manage stewardship activities for the College of Education, including but not limited, to annual acknowledgements to endowment donors and thank you visits to donors.
• Analyze the success of annual fund development efforts; propose and implement adjustments.
Alumni and Stakeholder engagement
• Build and maintain purposeful and substantive lifelong relationships with alumni, volunteers, community partners and friends to advance a vibrant community engaged at the College of Education.
• Work with UW Alumni Association staff and volunteers to involve alumni and other friends in the College’s advancement activities. Develop strategies to create continuing connections and interest in the College.
• Represent the College at University, community and professional functions as appropriate, providing staff support for advancement related activities in the College as needed.
• Respond to correspondence, phone calls and emails and provide excellent customer service to all types of stakeholders and supporters of the college of education.
Program Development and Management
• As part of the University-wide annual development planning process, assist the Assistant Dean in establishing goals, objectives and strategies for the College’s development and advancement activities.
• Create and implement an annual engagement plan identifying meaningful engagement touchpoints for friends of the college throughout the year. Successfully execute calendar of events in relation to the plan.
• Partner with the Assistant Director of Communications to develop marketing and communications materials to support the execution of engagement strategies.
• Manage and maintain the College of Education Ambassador Board. Develop key communication and engagement strategy in addition to regular meetings and gatherings. Partner with the Assistant Dean on recruitment strategy and vision setting of the Board.
• Participate cooperatively with the University’s prospect management and tracking system.
