Position Description:
PROJECT
Do Big Good LLC is a Seattle-based co-design firm. We are developing a proposal to evaluate Building Bridges, a governmental project to increase the number of Washington state students who regularly attend school and ultimately graduate from high school.
To support our proposal, we are seeking to contract with an expert in graduation equity. The time commitment for this role is ≈ ninety (90) hours over four (4) months from late February through June, at a rate of $108/hour.
Applications are due by January 2nd.
TASKS
◦ Literature Review: Write a literature review of state graduation barrier reduction policies and strategies (10-12 pages)
◦ Legislative Recommendations: Draft recommendations for Washington’s legislature on things they can do to make graduation more attainable (5 pages)
◦ Analysis with an Equity Lens: Include special considerations for students who are:
◦ In foster care,
◦ Involved in the juvenile justice system,
◦ Receiving special education services under chapter 28A.155 RCW,
◦ Recent immigrants,
◦ Homeless,
◦ Emotionally traumatized and/or facing behavioral health issues,
◦ Deemed at-risk of school failure as identified by a dropout early warning
data system or other assessment.
EXPERTISE
◦ Required
◦ 1. Experience and background knowledge on graduation equity best
practices and research.
◦ 2. Experience drafting a literature review.
◦ Desired
◦ 3. Experience writing legislative recommendations.
◦ Optional
◦ 4. Experience collecting student related data.
◦ 5. Experience producing grant evaluation reports.
◦ 6. Experience in troubleshooting issues and providing technical assistance .
◦ 7. Experience presenting data to varied audiences in-person and virtual
◦ 8. Experience collecting data from community-based organizations
◦ 9. Experience in troubleshooting issues and providing technical assistance.
◦ 10. Experience composing and editing shared documents.
TIME REQUIRED
◦ Approximately ninety (90) hours of work
◦ Project expected to run from late February through late June, 2023.
◦ Ability to have meetings during the 8am - 5pm work day, Pacific Time
LOCATION
◦ Washington state preferred, but not required.
◦ Our team works remotely.
PAY
◦ $108/hour, invoiced monthly via online timesheet
◦ W-9 contract role, will receive 1099 tax form
