Position Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide psychological service to any students referred
• Assess students referred for special education using appropriate tools
• Conduct parent interviews to gather information
• Collect, analyze and collate all historical data on a student of focus
• Arrange for the appropriate forms to be sent to parents and other reassessment personnel
• Communicate verbally and in writing assessment results to relevant persons
• Create and initiate transmittal of records
• Present cases to the Guidance Team, the Evaluation Group, and MDT’s when appropriate
• Collaborate productively as a problem-solving team member in planning, supporting and providing instruction
• Assist in collaboration with the IEP Team in developing an Individualized Education Program(s) for student(s)
• Ensure that due process rights are explained in the student and family’s native language
• Recommend appropriate classroom interventions to general education staff
• Consult with appropriate administrative, certificated, and support staff in such areas and topics as behavior
management, discipline, motivation, and learning styles
• Receive and implement recommendations from supervising veteran staff
• Protect family and student privacy in accordance with federal law, state statute and District Policy and Procedures.
• Visit and gain experience in a variety of special education programs preschool-age 21 within the ISD
• Attend building and/or district meetings with the School Psychologist
• Attend Professional Development opportunities as organized by the School Psychologist team in the ISD
• Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents and district staff, maintaining ongoing and open
communication
• Possess knowledge of and adhere to Governing Policies and District Regulations and Procedures.
• Use technology for communication, presentations, trainings, and workshops
• Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the
scope and intent of the position
