Position Description: 
Overview of Position This position manages the provision of technical assistance for child development in the area of curriculum and assessment in the Head Start Program; in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Path to Positive Child Outcomes and the District policies, and oversees implementation, tracking and monitoring of classroom educational activities. Essential Functions Manages the day-to-day operations of curriculum implementation according to the Head Start performance standards. Manages the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework to guide program staff in their ongoing assessment of the progress and accomplishments of children; analyzes and uses data on child outcomes in program self-assessment and continuous improvement. Manages the review of program curriculum, materials, and learning environments to ensure that they provide suitably well-balanced and engaging opportunities to foster children's learning and development in each of the domain areas of the outcomes framework. Manages the Head Start program professional development system; assesses staff training needs and determines the training to be offered; determines participation among the staff. Reviews documents and standards to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Federal program; guides Head Start Area Supervisors in monitoring compliance. Supervises Head Start Area Supervisor's activities, including hiring, assessing training needs; providing training, coaching, discipline and evaluation. Develops and implements program goals in cooperation with the Head Start leadership team for curriculum and assessment; collaborates in developing policies, procedures and performance standards. Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners to ensure connections in the field of pre-school education, Universal Pre-K, and Head Start; disseminates the information to the Head Start program staff. Builds and maintains District resources to ensure coordination of professional development, special education, and bilingual services between Head Start and these departments; works within Head Start or in other departments to facilitate professional development. Prepares management reports for area of assignment; analyzes and monitors data, and provides periodic reports to the Program Manager and at committee meetings; implements appropriate areas of the program-monitoring plan and develops reports for the Program Manager. Communicates clearly with and attends to the needs of culturally diverse audiences; attends ongoing culturally relevant professional development classes and applies these skills to actions that result in systemic improvements.
