JOB POSTING Extended Day Programs (EDP) Associate: Early Childhood DEPARTMENT: Extended Day Programs OPEN DATE: September 2022 CLOSING DATE: until filled JOB OVERVIEW - FULL TIME / Fully Benefited: Employer Paid Medical, Dental & Vision. This full time position works under the supervision of the Director of Extended Day Programs (EDP), in partnership with other adults working in Villa Academy’s Preschool and other departments. Hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm daily. Under the direction of the Director of EDP, the successful Associate will plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children, provide care and rest periods for the children, and perform a variety of other needed services within a licensed facility. In addition to working with students, the EDP Associate: Early Childhood will communicate with families about their child/children and collaborate with the rest of the EDP team. This role involves exciting opportunities to work in other areas of Villa Academy as and when needed. This is a dynamic position and one which requires comfort and enthusiasm in working with children and adults. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required Teacher Certification considered a plus A minimum of 3 years experience in working with preschool aged children in a school/child care setting as the lead teacher STARS training and certification preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with and deep understanding of current developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood Education A commitment to ongoing cultural competence professional development and the motivation to put these skills into practice A creative self-starter who brings wisdom, perspective, confidence, and excellent problem-solving skills to the position Supervises students in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, the EDP room, the school’s playground, and the campus at large Develops and maintains positive relationships with students Ability to collaborate and work with colleagues Effective oral and written communication skills with children, co-workers and families Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and regularly adjust strategy based on the school’s needs Ability to plan and deliver activities daily, both independently and collaboratively Ability to create routines and follow them Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to be proactive A good sense of humor Desire and love of young children and their learning journey as they discover and explore Desire to introduce children to nature and facilitate connections between them and their environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, kneel and sit on the floor and be active with children aged 3 - 5 Ability to perform all housekeeping tasks and any other duties as part of the role's responsibilities APPLICATION PROCEDURE Please provide, via email, the items listed below (preferably in one PDF document).
