Highline High School is seeking a Promise Scholars Specialist to join their team of educators for the 2022-2023 school year! SUMMARY: The Promise Scholars Specialist plays a critical role in fulfilling our mission of preparing all students for postsecondary and career success. The Promise Scholars specialist will support 10th and 11th grade self- identified male/non-binary students of color in their post-secondary exploration and identity development process. This position will be campus-based conducting direct service with program scholars. The Specialist will provide case management support to scholars and their families, execute post-secondary exploration and career workshops, engage with King County Promise and districtwide college and career exploration events and programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Recruit and support two 50-student cohorts of 10th and 11th grade self-identified males/non-binary students of color. Develop and execute monthly workshops on post-secondary pathways, academic preparedness, career exploration, and cultural identity including 1:1 student mentoring, outreach, and supportive services. Develop a consistent follow-up and outreach plan for ensuring student tasks and program goals are completed. Help struggling students see the relevance in their school experience by generating excitement about future opportunities and making connections to high school. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Associate’s degree or equivalent Two years demonstrated project management, event planning, direct youth services or administrative experience Proficient with technology, including use of Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Twitter and social media PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree Degree or coursework in Education or related field Experience working in educational settings, preferably with high school aged students Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali or Vietnamese For the full job description, and to apply, visit our Jobs Hub - https://bit.ly/3CbEQsG.
