Dear College of Education community,

Earlier today, the University of Washington announced that starting Monday, March 9, classes will not be held in person. I want to thank all the members of the College of Education community for the resilience and care you have demonstrated for one another during a challenging time. Our focus at the College is to ensure our students have a successful conclusion to this quarter.

I want to assure you that the College’s leadership team and faculty have and will continue to take steps to ensure that our students’ academic work is fairly recognized and that any disruption does not disadvantage future academic progress. As a college focused on education, we already have extensive experience with remote instruction, and we are confident in our ability to continue delivering high-quality instruction during this time. Instructors will provide students with more details about changes to their particular courses and exams.

Please note that UW campuses remain open and the College’s offices will continue operations to serve our students during this time. Later today, we will launch a page on the College’s website with more information for students, faculty and staff, so please look for additional communication when that page is live.

As President Cauce’s message notes, our University has faced and overcome challenges before. Working together, we will do so again.

Sincerely,

Mia Tuan

Dean, University of Washington College of Education
