Dr. James A. Banks (Faculty): Book to be Published in Turkish Edition

Pearson has announced that An Introduction to Multicultural Education (Fifth Edition) by James A. Banks will be published in a Turkish translated edition. With the publication of the  Turkish edition of his book, Professor Banks books will be available in five languages other than English: Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Turkish.

Dr. Stephen Fink (Faculty): Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals “Presidential Service Award”

The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) awarded Stephen Fink, executive director of the UW Center for Educational Leadership, a Presidential Service Award in recognition of the Center’s service to principals in Michigan. The award was presented at EdCon13, a summer conference attended by 300 principals. 

Dr. Matthew Henley (Alum): Visiting Assistant Professor for the Dance Department, Texas Women’s University

Alum Matthew Henley (advisor Dr. Virginia Berninger) is now a Visiting Assistant Professor for the Dance Department, Texas Women’s University, Denton, TX where he teaches creative studio and theory  undergraduate and graduate courses. He is on faculty for the summer Ph.D. Program in Dance. His research as a Ph.D student. “Is perception of dance affected by physical movement training and experience?”
is in press for Research in Dance Education.

Dr. Jim Mazza (Faculty): Forefront - Innovations in Suicide Prevention

Jim Mazza has been deeply involved with the creation and launch of a new nonprofit, Forefront: Innovations in Suicide Prevention. Forefront will develop trainings and educational programs that serve youth and save lives. This is a collaboration between the UW School of Social Work, UW Communications, UW School of Nursing, and UW Educational Psychology. More>>

Dr. Jean Snell (Alum): Regional Executive Director of Leading Educators

Jean Snell graduated from the Danforth Leadership Program in 2001 and received her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in 2005.  Snell has been selected to serve as the founding Regional Executive Director of Leading Educators in Washington, DC.  Leading Educators is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the next generation of teacher leaders through a rigorous 2-year fellowship program delivered in partnership with urban school districts and charter schools.  The goal of the organization is to train strong teacher-leaders, and through this investment and distribution of leadership to increase student learning and achievement.  Learn more about Leading Educators>>

Dr. Kenneth Zeichner: National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education in Goiania Brazil

Dr. Kenneth Zeichner presented two plenary lectures at the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education in Goiania Brazil. The lectures were called: "The Politics of Teacher Education in the U.S" and "Venture Philanthropy, Educational Entrepreneurism and Teacher Education Policy in the U.S."
